ASCULANUS, SALADINUS

El compendio de los boticarios.

ASCULANUS, SALADINUS.

El compendio de los boticarios. Translator: Alonso Rodríguez de Tudela. Printer: Arnau Guillen de Brocar. Valladolid, 25th November 1515. Size: 21 x 15 cm. 58 leaves (116 pages)

This post-incunabulum, despite the date of its colophon -25th November 1515- must have been put on sale at a later date, since some of its typographic details imply that some of its fascicles were printed some time afterwords, at least after the arrival of Carlos V to Spain in the autumn of 1517. Nothing is known of the translator, presumably a doctor from Tudela, who also translated the Servidor by Albuchasis.

The treatise includes the names and classification of many Spanish plants and explanations of several chemical operations.
