The work of Valverde was the text which most contributed, by means of 16 editions in four languages, to spreading throughout Europe the new anatomy following the reform headed by Andrés Vesalio, it was the first morphological book illustrated with traced prints. It includes 42 illustrations, some replicas of those by Vesalio and other originals, wich as a whole offer important scientific innovations. Its drawing has been attributed to Gaspar Becerra who, in any case, appears to be the author of the famous illustration of the "muscular man", whose status is clearly influenced by Michael Angelo.
