The Historia de las amors e vida del cavaller Paris e de Viana is an erotic novel-chivalresque, whose argument was summed up thus by Ramón Menéndez Pidal: "it is reduced to a very simple fable of consistent and pursued love, enlivened with the usual memories of the Crusades and forced captivity in Palestine". This incunabulum in colour, with no typographic indications, attributed to the printing house of Diego de Gumiel around 1497, and here reproduced, is from the Library of Catalonia and is the only known copy in the world.
