NEBRIJA, ANTONIO DE.

Gramática castellana. Printer: Typ. Nebrigensis Salamanca, 18th August 1492. Size: 16 x 24 cm. 68 leaves (136 pages). Gothic lettering, capitals in red.

The famous Castilian grammar by Antonio de Nebrija was printed in the Nebrigensis Typography.

Very important incunabulum preserved in Valencia’s Municipal Library, with capitals in red and Gothic lettering, which identify it as one of the few existing examples of the first edition, as in the XVI century the first edition was reedited with rounded lettering.

First grammar in the Castilian language, source of consultation for the truly erudite. Work of Nebrija, considered the first Spanish humanist, who reviewed the Latin and Greek texts of the Biblia políglota complutense by Cardinal Cisneros.
