Synopsis:

The work of Valverde was the text which most contributed, due to the fact of its 16 editions in four languages, to spreading the new anatomy throughout Europe following the reform headed by Andreas Vesalius. It was the first morphological book illustrated with traced prints.

It includes 42 illustrations, some replicas of those by Vesalius and other originals, which as a whole offer important scientific innovation. Its drawing has been attributed to Gaspar Becerra who, in any case, appears to be the author of the famous print of the "muscular man", whose state is clearly influenced by Michael Angelo.
